MAY 11th

INTERNATIONAL KARAOKE

The first show at ONETHIRTYTWO came about as a result of livingroom conversations that lasted over the course of a year. The name of the show is a combination of futile nights trying to capture all the things we feel about this first show. We have had so many ideas. We talked about the idea of apartments, and apartness. Initiation also seemed to be a key factor for us. To initiate something.

But the idea of the home, and the idea of 'feeling' home was the simple thread that carried our conversations. This is our home, and we feel the need to make it 'feel' that way. We have both come from other places, and made San Francisco our home, and now we invite other artists to exhibit work in our space. Like a cover song, or KARAOKE, (as curators) we will sing their songs.

'International Karaoke' came about when Shane had written down a phrase and taped it to the wall. When I saw it...I knew that INTERNATIONAL KARAOKE was the title of the first show at 132.

artists added, Luciano Cieza & Brian Schmierer
